Hello!! I am 25 years old - born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I still live in Saint Paul, near the Mississippi River - which is one of my favorite places to explore! My parents are both from northern Minnesota, Duluth and the Iron Range, so I have grown up spending a lot of time up north with my parents, grandparents, and extended family. I went to the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities for undergrad and graduate school and I now work as a Speech Language Pathologist.
From a young age I was taught by my family to love and appreciate the time we spent together outdoors. Since then, I have always loved being outside as a break from the busyness of day to day life - I always breath easier outside and feel like I can clear my mind and focus on what is really important to me.
Whenever I’m outside, I can’t help but want to capture everything I see and experience so I can share it with others (and hopefully inspire them to come with me too!). I take all my photos with my iPhone 7 - it’s so easy to carry and I always have it with me!
I love exploring all over Minnesota, especially because so many places are only a drive away from the Twin Cities! However, if I had to pick a favorite I would pick the north shore of Lake Superior. The lake and surrounding forests are so beautiful and unique.
I have a few dream locations to explore. My dream locations that are fairly close to home are Isle Royal and the Quetico. I have heard lots of adventure tales from my family about these places and want to experience them for myself!
Another place I want to explore is the Grand Canyon - I have never been and my goal is to hike it rim to rim someday!
One of my favorite adventure in the Great Outdoors happened last summer. My two friends and I did our first backpacking trip on the Superior Hiking Trail. We hiked 42 miles and were out for 5 days, 4 nights.
It was such an amazing experience to be carrying everything we needed on our backs. Each day and night we saw extraordinary sights and I have wonderful memories of all the inspiring, tiring, and joyful moments we shared while simply putting one foot in front of the other.
Even the less desirable parts (such as being soaking wet for a full 24 hours, drinking water from a beaver pond, and somehow getting off course and hiking an extra 5 miles one day) are remembered fondly and laughed about when we get together and reminisce about our first backpacking adventure.
